Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has highlighted the growing global opportunities for Uttar Pradesh’s entrepreneurs as India expands market access through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
Addressing the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Goyal said increased exports, investments and access to international markets would play a key role in the state’s ambition to become a USD 1 trillion economy.
Uttar Pradesh currently records annual exports of around ₹2 lakh crore and has set an ambitious target of increasing this to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030. The Minister said expanding the state’s presence in international markets would be central to achieving this target.
He also highlighted the strong international participation at the trade show, which featured six partner countries, hundreds of international delegates and exhibitors, and buyer-seller meetings, providing a platform for businesses from Uttar Pradesh to connect with global markets and potential partners.
Goyal said new investments are expected to flow into India from across the world and noted that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a preferred investment destination, supported by favourable industrial policies and proactive schemes.
The Minister pointed to the state’s growing presence in defence, semiconductors, electronics and other high-technology sectors, citing the expansion of a major robotics manufacturing facility in Greater Noida as an example of the state’s evolving industrial capabilities.
He said the next phase of Uttar Pradesh’s development would focus on expanding exports, attracting international investments, strengthening tourism and building global recognition for brands originating from the state.
Goyal called upon Uttar Pradesh’s trade and industrial community to actively participate in this development journey and leverage emerging opportunities in global markets.
