Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (HooghlyCSL) has marked a key milestone in the construction of an 80-passenger River Cruise Vessel (RCV-2) being built for Heritage River Journeys Private Limited, with the keel-laying and coin ceremony held at its shipyard.
The ceremony was attended by Raj Singh, Chairman of Antara Cruises; Sreejith K. Narayanan, CEO of HooghlyCSL; Harald Seebacher, Vice President of Viking Cruises; and surveyors from the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), along with officers and employees of Viking Cruises, Heritage River Journeys Private Limited and HooghlyCSL.
The vessel is being constructed under the classification of the Indian Register of Shipping, reflecting the shipyard’s focus on quality, safety and engineering excellence.
The keel-laying ceremony marks an important stage in the vessel’s construction and highlights HooghlyCSL’s capabilities in building specialised passenger vessels for the growing river cruise sector. The project also underscores the importance of domestic shipbuilding in supporting India’s expanding river tourism and cruise infrastructure.
