After registering an increase in passenger traffic, Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) has recorded 46% growth in cargo movement.

Around 1,900 tons of goods were moved via airport last month as compared to 1,300 tons in August 2022.

Even for the April-August 2023 period, the cargo tonnage increased by 33% to 8,400 tons as compared to 6,300 tons in the same period previous year.

Speaking on the cargo volume growth, CCSIA spokesperson said, “Lucknow airport is gradually becoming a cargo hub as exporters from Kanpur and other neighbouring cities have started moving their items via CCSIA.”

“At present, readymade garments, meat, fruits, and vegetables are a major part of exported goods. While for domestic sectors e-commerce, mobile phones, auto parts and general cargo are major contributors for growth of cargo volume from Lucknow Airport in August 2023,” said the spokesperson.

In March 2022, CCSIA inaugurated a new domestic cargo arrival facility.
