    From January to September of 2023, the cargo volume of Chinese ports was 12540.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.5%; the container throughput of Chinese ports was 230.7 million TEU, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%. The chart below shows the cargo throughput and container throughput data of the twelve major ports in China.

    In terms of container freight rates, the average value of the Ningbo Container Freight index (NCFI) in October was quotes 623.1points, have a decrease of 3.7% compare to last month. In October, the shipping demand from Ningbo to the North American market was doldrums, most carriers had to cut off space supply by blanks sailing of some services. The average freight rate of 40GP from Ningbo Port to Los Angeles port and New York& New Jersey port in October was $1683(-12.0%)and $2174(-14.8%)month-on-month respectively.
