Indore topped in exports in the state with a total outbound shipment of over Rs 20,000 crore in FY 2023-24 mostly led by medicines, textile and engineering products, data from the office of the Joint Director General of Foreign Trade showed.
Exports from Indore in the last fiscal were up by 12 per cent at Rs 20,256 crore on a year-on-year basis as against Rs 18,014 crore.
The second highest exports in the state are from Dhar at Rs 10,973 crore, slightly up from the previous year. The most exportable item from Dhar was medicine.
Total exports from Madhya Pradesh in the last financial year were Rs 65,255 crore, down by 1 per cent from the previous year.
Exports of pharmaceutical products from MP in the 2023-2024 fiscal was Rs 13,158 crore.
“Highest exports in MP in the last fiscal were from Indore followed by Dhar. Medicines and pharmaceutical products contributed maximum in the total export from MP. Pharma, Soya, Cotton and Engineering products have shown good growth in exports and are expected to maintain the same growth in the ongoing fiscal,” said Suvidh Shah, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Madhya Pradesh.
In 2023-24, Indore exported medicines amounting to Rs 4,451 crore as against Rs 3,740 crore a year ago while export of medicines from Dhar in the last fiscal was Rs 1,495 crore.
Pharma, soy, cotton, machinery, readymade garments, organic chemicals and aluminium, electrical machinery and plastics were the 10 exported items from MP in the last fiscal.
Soybean meal exports from the Malwa-Nimar region remained higher than a year ago. Exports of soybean meal from AgarMalwa were Rs 1.42 crore, Dewas Rs 425 crore and Neemuch Rs 201 crore.
