BTP Santos and Identec Solutions have finalised the installation of Reefer Runner, an automated and remote reefer monitoring and management solution.

The reefer runner, at 2,100 reefer points, aims to enhance efficiency and ensure real-time visibility of temperature-sensitive cargo.

Identec Solutions and BTP Santos agreed on the project in 2023 because of its strategic nature. The installation work of Reefer Runner began in the second quarter of 2024 and was finished recently.

The Reefer Runner provides automated real-time visibility of every reefer container, irrespective of brand or type. With a wireless device that offers plug-and-play compatibility with Navis 4 Terminal Operating System (TOS), among others, Reefer Runner reportedly requires no training and can adapt to specific expansion plans, according to Identec Solutions.

Fabio Duarte, Implementation Project Manager, BTP Santos, confirmed: “Brasil Terminal Portuário – BTP, the largest port terminal in South America and located in the port of Santos-SP, has completed the installation of the Reefer Runner solution for automated management and monitoring of Reefer containers from the company Identec Solutions.

“In the coming months, the Reefer Runner system will provide online monitoring of 2,100 Reefer positions located in its Racks, providing greater control and automating the monitoring of the units’ temperatures.

“Eliminating manual errors in the process and increasing efficiency in sending information to its customers.”

“We are excited to add BTP as our 26th customer using Reefer Runner in the Americas and the first in Brazil,” said Julian Galvis, Regional Head Americas.

“As an organisation, we see the huge potential of the Brazilian reefer export market and have invested recently ourselves in providing localised service and support for our future customers.”

Earlier this summer, Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP) completed a significant engineering project to restore operations at its berth 1 in the Port of Santos.
