    Express logistics and supply chain management company Allcargo Gati Ltd on Friday unveiled a tech-enabled surface transhipment centre and distribution warehouse at Mayasandra, Hobli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, spread over an area of 3.5 lakh sq. ft.

    The transhipment centre is equipped to deliver daily throughput of 1,600 tonne and monthly throughput of 40,000 tonnes and has about 70 truck bays for managing more than 500 vehicles per day. The centre will address the demand from automotive, apparel, heavy engineering, retail industries, among others, and is located near railway network and international airport as well as an upcoming outer ring road.

    “We are pleased to launch the multi-user STCDW (surface transhipment centre and distribution warehouse) at Mayasandra which offers massive cargo handling capacity and superior connectivity due to its strategic locational advantages. The tech-enabled STCDW will pave the way for greater customer centricity at Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India and a key consumption centre of the country,” said Pirojshaw Sarkari, Managing Director
    and Chief Executive Officer, Gati Express and Supply Chain Pvt Ltd.

    “With advanced infrastructure, ramped up cargo processing capacity and environmentally sustainable initiatives, the STCDW will strengthen our position in the express logistics space . In the next phase of infrastructure development, we are in the process of setting up STCDWs with Grade A warehousing facilities across India,” he added.

    Allcargo Gati intends to construct 21 such automated, and ecologically friendly centres, and has already established centres in Guwahati, Nagpur, Farukhnagar (Gurugram), and most
    recently, Bhiwandi (Mumbai).

    The company also outlined that it aims to convert its entire pickup and delivery fleet of more than 2,500 vehicles into alternative fuel vehicles by 2025.
