Amazon India has announced plans to deploy around 1,000 electric trucks across India by 2028 in collaboration with Eicher Trucks and Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles.

The companies have co-developed the Eicher Pro-X electric truck for high-frequency intra-city operations, supporting Amazon Now’s rapid delivery network. Around 50 trucks are already in operation, with deployments beginning in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.

The electric trucks will transport goods between Amazon fulfilment hubs and micro-fulfilment centres, covering 100–180 km daily with fast-charging capability of about 50 minutes. The initiative is part of Amazon’s broader sustainability strategy and expansion of Amazon Now to 100 cities across India.
