Amazon Global Logistics (AGL) has introduced two new airfreight services for shipments moving from China to the United States, offering sellers greater flexibility in inventory replenishment, delivery speed and shipping costs. The new options are Air Seller Managed Placement (Air SMP) and Economy Air.

Air SMP enables sellers to divide inventory at origin and ship directly to designated Amazon fulfilment centres across five US regions. The service operates with daily flights from Shanghai and Hong Kong, with estimated transit times of seven to 10 calendar days from pickup. Amazon says the option also eliminates Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) inbound placement service fees and additional surcharges on apparel, electronics and lithium battery products.

The second option, Economy Air, offers a lower-cost alternative to Amazon’s standard airfreight service. Shipments move from Shanghai or Shenzhen to Los Angeles, with estimated transit times of 11 to 15 days. The service is intended for sellers who need faster replenishment than ocean freight can provide while keeping transportation costs under control.

The new offerings are designed to help businesses prepare for peak shopping seasons, replenish depleted inventory and support time-sensitive product launches. By providing different combinations of speed, cost and inventory placement flexibility, Amazon aims to help sellers manage supply chains more efficiently.

The expansion adds to Amazon Global Logistics’ international freight services and reflects the growing importance of integrated logistics solutions in cross-border e-commerce. The company continues to broaden its transportation options as sellers seek more predictable delivery schedules and flexible ways to move goods from Asian manufacturing centres to major consumer markets.
