In a significant move to strengthen India’s e-commerce logistics ecosystem, the Department of Posts (DoP), under the Ministry of Communications, has signed an agreement with Flipkart India Private Limited to provide nationwide last-mile parcel delivery services.

The agreement was signed in New Delhi by Neeraj Kumar Jha, General Manager, Parcel Directorate, Department of Posts, and Harvinder Kapur, Director – Commercial, Flipkart India Private Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

Under the partnership, India Post will leverage its extensive network of more than 1.6 lakh post offices to deliver Flipkart shipments across urban, semi-urban, rural and remote regions, significantly expanding the e-commerce company’s delivery reach.

The collaboration will cover the delivery of both prepaid and cash-on-delivery (COD) parcels, supported by OTP-based delivery authentication and real-time shipment tracking to enhance security and transparency throughout the delivery process.

The agreement is designed to improve delivery efficiency, accelerate parcel movement and enhance customer experience through better operational coordination and technology integration between the two organizations.

For Flipkart, the partnership provides access to one of the world’s largest postal delivery networks, enabling deeper market penetration and improved serviceability in underserved and difficult-to-reach areas. For the Department of Posts, the collaboration is expected to strengthen its parcel business by increasing utilization of its nationwide logistics infrastructure amid India’s rapidly expanding e-commerce market.

The initiative aligns with the Department of Posts’ broader strategy to transform itself into a leading logistics service provider supporting the country’s fast-growing digital economy while reinforcing India’s last-mile connectivity for e-commerce businesses and consumers alike.
