CMA CGM has announced the launch of a new RRI (Regional Relay/Direct) service connecting North Europe with Canada’s East Coast, strengthening its transatlantic network and offering customers improved connectivity and transit options.

The new service will link key North European ports with major Canadian gateways on the East Coast, providing exporters and importers with more reliable sailings and enhanced schedule integrity. CMA CGM said the RRI service is designed to support growing trade flows between Europe and Canada, particularly for industrial goods, consumer products and agri-food cargo.

According to the carrier, the service will offer competitive transit times and improved cargo visibility, while also supporting supply chain resilience amid shifting trade patterns. The move reflects continued demand for stable transatlantic capacity, even as global shipping markets remain volatile.

CMA CGM added that the RRI service will complement its existing North Atlantic offerings and reinforce its commitment to serving regional trade lanes with tailored solutions.

Industry sources say the new connection is expected to benefit shippers seeking direct or streamlined access to Eastern Canada, reducing reliance on longer routing options and congested hubs.
