CMA CGM is introducing early cancellation fees for SpotOn bookings, tightening the conditions governing cancellations and booking reductions on selected trades. The new policy will take effect from September 19, 2026.
Under the revised terms, cancellations made more than 21 days before the estimated time of departure (ETD) will remain free of charge across all trades. However, cancellations made 15 to 21 days before ETD will attract an early cancellation fee on specific trades.
Cancellations made 7 to 14 days before ETD will be subject to CMA CGM’s standard cancellation fee across all trades. For cancellations made less than seven days before ETD, a no-show fee will apply. The same provisions will also cover bookings that are reduced.
CMA CGM said SpotOn provides customers with priority for booking confirmation, equipment release and loading across all legs. The carrier explained that the new charges are intended to protect the service’s priority capacity and maintain service quality for customers using the instant-rate and space offering.
The applicable cancellation and amendment fees will be displayed in the SpotOn quotation at the time of the pricing request, allowing customers to review the conditions before confirming their bookings.
The move represents a tighter approach to booking discipline as carriers seek to ensure that reserved vessel space and equipment are used efficiently, particularly on trades where capacity is in high demand.
