Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) has achieved a significant milestone in India’s multimodal logistics sector with the successful operation of multiple Double-Stack Rake Operations (DSRO) connecting the National Capital Region (NCR) to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) through the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC).
The achievement marks the establishment of a high-capacity, high-efficiency rail logistics corridor between North India and the country’s largest container gateway, further strengthening port-hinterland connectivity and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
The inaugural double-stack container train from CONCOR’s Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Dadri to JNPT demonstrated impressive operational performance by transporting up to 360 TEUs, with loading and unloading completed within seven hours. The accomplishment sets a new benchmark in rail productivity at both MMLP Dadri and JNPT, showcasing CONCOR’s ability to handle larger cargo volumes with greater speed and operational precision.
The introduction of regular double-stack services enables significantly higher cargo capacity per train, resulting in faster transit, optimized logistics costs, improved service reliability, and reduced carbon emissions through greater rail utilization.
CONCOR stated that the successful movement of its first double-stack container rake to JNPT on June 29, 2026, represents not only an operational milestone but also a strategic step towards offering customers more efficient and competitive logistics solutions.
The company has also expanded its double-stack operations from MMLP Dadri to other major ports. It currently operates around 30 double-stack rakes per month to Mundra Port and 18–20 rakes per month to Pipavav Port, reflecting growing customer confidence and increasing demand for high-capacity rail services.
With deeper integration into the Dedicated Freight Corridor network, CONCOR is providing seamless connectivity between India’s key manufacturing and consumption centres in the NCR and major gateway ports. The enhanced connectivity allows shipping lines to efficiently route import and export cargo through JNPT while ensuring better synchronization with vessel schedules and improving overall supply chain flexibility.
The latest milestone further reinforces CONCOR’s position as a leading multimodal logistics service provider, supporting India’s growing trade requirements through efficient rail-based container transportation. By strengthening inland connectivity with global shipping routes, the company continues to play a vital role in improving logistics efficiency, expanding market access, and building more resilient supply chains across the country.
