The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has successfully conducted the trial run of the first goods train between New Saphale and Kharbav (IR) stations on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).
The inaugural train was flagged off by Sh. Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, DFCCIL, in the presence of Sh. Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director (Operations & Business Development); Sh. Anurag Sharma, Director (Infrastructure); and Sh. Parmod Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer, along with other senior officials.
This milestone marks a major step toward the completion and operational readiness of the WDFC, further strengthening India’s dedicated freight network.
The Vaitarna–Kharbav section, a key part of the JNPT–Vaitarna stretch, holds strategic significance in enhancing port-hinterland connectivity and facilitating faster, more efficient movement of high-volume cargo to and from Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) — one of India’s busiest maritime gateways for international trade.
