DTDC Express Ltd., a leading express logistics service provider in India unveiled its 3rd All-Women-Operated-Branch at Thane, Mumbai. The initiative was inaugurated by Abhishek Chakraborty, CEO, DTDC Express Ltd. on the occasion of International Women’s Day.  Building on the success of its all-women-operated branch launched earlier at Marol (Mumbai) & Kolkata, the Thane branch will further reinforce the company’s commitment to promoting gender equity in the logistics sector.

The Thane hub, spanning 7,500 sq. ft, plays a crucial role in DTDC’s day-to-day operations, handling over 100 tons of inbound and outbound parcels every month. This facility offers a unique opportunity for female employees, as they will manage approximately 30% of the shipments monthly, each weighing over 3 kg. The introduction of an all-women team in this dynamic hub is a significant step towards transforming the logistics landscape, fostering an environment where women are not only participants but also leaders in shaping the future of the industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Abhishek Chakraborty, CEO – DTDC Express Ltd. said: “We are excited to announce the launch of our third all-women-operated branch at Thane, a pivotal step toward empowering women in our industry. As we continue to champion diversity, it’s clear that the logistics sector thrives when diverse perspectives are at the forefront. With women now representing 41% of the workforce, the tide is shifting, and we are seeing a powerful trend of women stepping into leadership roles, as highlighted by ‘Gartner’s eighth annual Women in Supply Chain Survey 2024’.

This initiative by DTDC is not just about representation; it’s a strategic move to break down barriers and create an inclusive, forward-thinking workplace. Women bring unique insights, innovation, and exceptional talent to our sector, and their contributions are integral to our success. Establishing this all-women-operated hub is a landmark moment for us—one that reflects our deep commitment to driving change, fostering equality, and setting new standards in an evolving industry.”

DTDC remains focused on driving gender equity while delivering unparalleled service. The Thane hub reiterates the company’s unwavering commitment to redefining the logistics sector, one step at a time.
