Evergreen Line has expanded its electronic Bill of Lading (eBL) capabilities by making its digital trade documents available through Bolero’s Galileo platform, widening access beyond its existing customer network. The move is designed to improve the exchange of electronic shipping documents among carriers, freight forwarders, shippers, consignees, logistics providers and financial institutions.
Evergreen has worked with Bolero for more than seven years, using its technology to provide Intelligent Bills of Lading within the carrier’s customer network. The latest expansion allows Evergreen eBLs to be published to Galileo, connecting them with WiseTech Global’s wider logistics ecosystem.
Through the expanded integration, customers using CargoWise and INTTRA can request and access Evergreen eBLs through their existing workflows. This is expected to make it easier for digital trade documents to move between different participants involved in international shipments without requiring separate processes for each party.
The integration is based on the Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) API v3.0 standards, which are intended to improve interoperability between shipping and logistics systems. According to WiseTech Global, the digital process can support faster document transfers, improved visibility and reduced administrative work, while also facilitating trade-finance processes.
Galileo provides a digital environment for the secure exchange, management and lifecycle control of electronic bills of lading and related trade-finance documents. Its integration with CargoWise and INTTRA extends the reach of eBL workflows across a broader network of logistics and trade participants.
Evergreen said the initiative supports its broader efforts to reduce reliance on paper-based documentation. Wider adoption of electronic bills of lading can help improve the speed, security and transparency of documentation processes while reducing the administrative burden associated with physical documents.
The development also highlights the growing push within the container shipping industry toward standardised digital documentation. By enabling eBLs to move across connected platforms, carriers and logistics providers can reduce friction in documentation and improve coordination throughout the supply chain.
For Evergreen, the Galileo expansion represents an extension of its existing digitalisation efforts rather than a first move into electronic bills of lading. The carrier has already been using Bolero technology for several years, while the latest development significantly broadens the number of external trade participants who can access its electronic documents.
The move comes as the shipping industry accelerates efforts to replace paper-based bills of lading with interoperable electronic alternatives. Wider eBL adoption is expected to support more efficient cargo release, documentation and trade-finance processes as digital standards become increasingly established across global container shipping.
