Honda Motorcycle’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan has commenced direct container export dispatches through Container Corporation of India’s (CONCOR) Inland Container Depot (ICD) Kathuwas (CMLK), marking a significant milestone in the region’s export logistics ecosystem.
The first-ever direct container export dispatch was flagged off at the Honda plant premises with a traditional coconut-breaking ceremony. The new logistics arrangement will eliminate the earlier routing via Manesar through other ICDs, establishing a direct connection between Honda’s Tapukara facility and ICD Kathuwas.
The new export stream is expected to begin at approximately 300 TEUs per month, with volumes progressively increasing to tap Honda’s estimated total export potential of around 1,500 TEUs per month.
Following the launch, discussions were held with Honda’s senior leadership, including the Plant Head, Finance Head and Vice President – Logistics. The meeting explored ICD Kathuwas’s warehousing capabilities, green LNG-powered haulage initiatives and shipping services to identify further opportunities for collaboration.
Honda’s team is scheduled to visit ICD Kathuwas on October 12 to explore additional strategic opportunities and strengthen the logistics partnership.
The development follows nearly two years of sustained efforts and is expected to enhance direct export connectivity for Honda’s Tapukara operations while strengthening Rajasthan’s export logistics infrastructure.
