The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has announced that Prof. Bodhibrata Nag is developing a comprehensive case study on the sustainability journey of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA).

VOCPA has emerged as a national leader in green transformation, pioneering initiatives in renewable energy adoption, green hydrogen production, elimination of single-use plastics, and digital innovation. Recognized for aligning growth with environmental stewardship, the port is redefining the concept of sustainable ports in India.

The upcoming case study will examine how VOCPA integrates strategic management and operational efficiency with sustainability imperatives, while advancing India’s SAGARMALA programme and the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.

According to IIM Calcutta, the initiative will serve as a model for how ports can evolve into hubs of both prosperity and sustainability, offering critical lessons in strategy, operations, and environmental management for the maritime sector.
