Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has kicked off FY 2026–27 on a strong note, recording robust growth in both container throughput and overall cargo volumes in April 2026.

The port handled 7.71 million TEUs of container traffic and 9.62 million tonnes of total cargo during the month, registering a 15.50% increase in container volumes and a 14.01% rise in total cargo compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Notably, the total cargo handled also surpassed the earlier record of 8.44 million tonnes, setting a new benchmark for April performance.

The strong growth underscores JNPA’s sustained focus on enhancing operational efficiency, optimizing terminal performance, and strengthening logistics infrastructure. As India’s premier container port, JNPA continues to play a pivotal role in facilitating the country’s maritime trade and supporting economic growth.

The latest performance reflects the port authority’s ongoing efforts to streamline operations, improve turnaround times, and expand capacity to meet rising trade demand. With consistent investments in infrastructure and technology, JNPA is well-positioned to maintain its growth momentum in the coming months.

This milestone further reinforces JNPA’s commitment to delivering world-class port services while contributing significantly to India’s evolving maritime and logistics ecosystem.
