The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has welcomed the Seaspan Montevideo, one of the first vessels to arrive under the new Gemini Cooperation.

The North America Shuttle service links Jacksonville directly to Cartagena, Colombia, and the broader Gemini global network.

The service calls at Blount Island Marine Terminal in JAXPORT weekly, with SSA Atlantic handling stevedoring.

Transshipment connections span Asia, Europe, South America, Central America, Oceania, and the Caribbean.

With 290 vessels and a total capacity of 3.4 million TEUs, the Gemini network offers shippers broad global reach through 26 mainline and 32 shuttle services.

The port’s Chief Commercial Officer, Robert Peek, said: “Our new connectivity through Gemini provides even more options for customers seeking to move cargo through the Southeast US.

“The service offers flexible transshipment, access to new markets, and competitive transit times backed by Gemini’s schedule reliability.”

Last month, JAXPORT welcomed the maiden voyage of Quetzal, Crowley’s newest LNG-powered containership.
