Railway projects with a combined value of around ₹20,000 crore are currently underway in Kerala, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
The projects are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s railway infrastructure, improve passenger connectivity and enhance the capacity of existing rail networks.
According to Vaishnaw, investments in Kerala’s railway sector have increased significantly, with multiple infrastructure and modernisation projects being implemented across the state. The works are expected to improve railway facilities and support faster and more efficient movement of passengers and freight.
The projects include track and station infrastructure improvements as well as other works aimed at upgrading railway facilities. Expansion and modernisation of the network are also expected to improve connectivity between Kerala’s major cities and economic centres.
The railway investment is significant for Kerala’s logistics sector, where improved rail capacity can provide additional options for transporting goods and reduce pressure on road networks.
The projects are being implemented in phases, with completion timelines varying according to the scope and location of individual works. Further progress is expected as construction and infrastructure upgrades continue across the state.
