    Chennai Port Authority has appointed Kurve Sachin Shardchandra as its new Chairperson, succeeding Sunil Paliwal, who has moved to head the Inland Waterways Authority of India.

    Before assuming charge at ChPA, Kurve served as Secretary, Medical Health & Medical Education and Secretary, Civil Aviation in the Uttarakhand government. A 2003-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, he brings extensive administrative and infrastructure management experience to the role.

    According to an official release, Kurve will focus on operational modernisation at the port, including enhancing cargo throughput through mechanised berths, accelerating digital transformation through smart port technologies, and advancing sustainability-led green initiatives.
