Maersk has officially commenced operations at the Port of Milazzo, further strengthening its network connectivity in Southern Italy. Strategically located near the Strait of Messina, Milazzo offers enhanced access to both Sicily and Calabria, making it a competitive addition to the Maersk network.

The new service was inaugurated with the maiden call of the m/n Sider London on 17th July 2025, arriving via the Cagliari hub. Vessels will be handled at the Duferco Terminal Mediterraneo (DTM)—Sicily’s first private container and multipurpose terminal—located in the Giammoro industrial zone.

The service supports dry standard, refrigerated, IMO (excluding classes 1 and 7), and out-of-gauge containers, and integrates seamlessly with Maersk’s inland transport solutions for end-to-end efficiency.
