Metrans, the rail company of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), has expanded its Slovakian hub terminal in Dunajská Streda by around 5 hectares.
Metrans is offering its customers new storage and transportation options at one of the most important intermodal hubs in Central Europe, reported HHLA.
As a result of the expansion, Metrans now has a terminal area of 326,000 square metres, which is equivalent to around 45 soccer fields. The expansion area of 50,000 square metres will primarily be used for container repair and storage.
A new container washing facility has also been built in this area.
Peter Kiss, CEO of Metrans, said: “We are delighted that the expansion of our terminal in Dunajská Streda will enable us to offer our customers a further improved service at our central logistics hub.”
Earlier this month, cargo-partner extended its partnership with the HHLA Pure programme for another year across its branches in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.
More recently, Airobotics Ltd. (Airobotics) and HHLA Sky GmbH (HHLA Sky), a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), formed a strategic cooperation to provide drone services to secure and assist terminal operations in Germany.
