    NITI Aayog has appointed Ashok Kumar Lahiri as its new Vice Chairman, strengthening the government think tank’s leadership with an experienced economist and public policy expert.

    Lahiri brings extensive experience in economic policy and public finance, having previously served as Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India and as a member of the Fifteenth Finance Commission.

    His professional background spans academia, public institutions and international organisations, with significant contributions to fiscal policy, economic reforms and governance.

    The appointment is expected to further reinforce NITI Aayog’s role in evidence-based policymaking and support strategic initiatives aimed at accelerating India’s economic transformation and long-term development agenda.
