Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has launched OneTag, a new initiative designed to make it easier for FASTag users to switch between issuing banks without replacing their existing tags.

The facility is aimed at improving FASTag portability and giving vehicle owners greater flexibility in choosing their preferred bank. Under the system, users can change the bank linked to their FASTag while continuing to use the same tag.

The initiative is expected to simplify the process for motorists and reduce the inconvenience associated with obtaining a new FASTag when changing banks. It could also help improve user experience across India’s electronic toll collection system.

FASTag has become an important part of India’s highway tolling infrastructure, enabling electronic toll payments and reducing the need for cash transactions at toll plazas.

The OneTag initiative is expected to support greater convenience and flexibility for FASTag users as digital toll collection continues to expand across the country’s road network.
