Ocean Network Express (ONE) has entered into a strategic partnership with Hutchison Ports at the Laem Chabang terminal in Thailand, strengthening its presence in one of Southeast Asia’s key maritime hubs.
The investment will see ONE acquire a stake in the Hutchison-operated terminal at Laem Chabang Port, enhancing its access to terminal capacity and improving service reliability for customers in the region.
Industry sources note that the move is aimed at securing long-term infrastructure support amid growing trade volumes in Southeast Asia. Laem Chabang, Thailand’s largest port, plays a critical role in regional supply chains, handling significant container traffic linked to manufacturing and export activities.
By partnering with Hutchison Ports, ONE is expected to benefit from improved berth availability, optimized vessel turnaround times, and greater operational efficiency. The collaboration will also support the carrier’s efforts to strengthen its network and offer more consistent service schedules.
The investment reflects a broader trend among shipping lines to secure strategic stakes in port infrastructure to mitigate congestion risks and gain better control over their logistics networks.
Hutchison Ports, a major global terminal operator, continues to expand partnerships with shipping lines to enhance terminal utilization and support evolving trade dynamics.
With Southeast Asia emerging as a key growth region for global trade, the partnership is expected to reinforce connectivity and provide greater resilience across regional and international shipping networks.
