A team from the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) led by Chairman Shri P.L. Haranadh, IRTS, visited the proposed site for a Cruise Terminal at Sipasarubali Beach, near the Mangala River Bridge in Puri.
Shri T. Venu Gopal, Deputy Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, along with Board Members and senior officials, accompanied the Chairman during the site visit.
During the visit, the team undertook a detailed review of the proposed location, including the existing surroundings, available infrastructure, site requirements and development prospects for the planned Cruise Terminal. The assessment is aimed at understanding the infrastructure and connectivity requirements necessary for developing the site into a cruise tourism facility.
The proposed Cruise Terminal at Sipasarubali Beach is expected to play an important role in strengthening Puri’s maritime tourism potential. With Puri being one of Odisha’s major tourism destinations, the development could provide a new gateway for cruise passengers and complement the region’s existing tourism ecosystem.
The project is also expected to create opportunities for local businesses and services associated with cruise tourism, including hospitality, transportation, tourism services and other allied activities.
The site visit marks an important step towards assessing the feasibility and development requirements of the proposed Cruise Terminal and advancing Odisha’s efforts to expand its cruise tourism infrastructure.
The initiative is aligned with the broader objective of leveraging India’s maritime infrastructure to promote tourism, improve coastal connectivity and generate new economic opportunities for coastal regions.
