Quadrant Future Tek Limited, a research-oriented company, announced on Thursday its collaboration with Indian Railways and Chittaranjan Locomotive Works to install and commission the Kavach system on 1,200 locomotives. According to a press release, the total cost of the installation is estimated at Rs 978.61 crore.
The phased installation will prioritise timely delivery, quality, and seamless integration of the Kavach system. This project is expected to significantly enhance passenger safety and bolster India’s position as a global leader in railway technology.

What is Kavach?
The Kavach system, developed in partnership with the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), leverages India’s indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) technology. Kavach enhances railway safety by reducing human error and optimizing train operations. Acting as a vigilant safeguard, it continuously monitors train speeds and intervenes when human actions are delayed or overlooked.
