Ripley Group is developing India’s first Electric Green Tug for Deendayal Port Authority under the Government of India’s Green Tug Transition Programme, marking a significant step towards sustainable maritime operations.

The tug is being equipped with advanced Lithium Titanate Oxide (LTO) battery technology, along with electric equipment and a propulsion system package supplied by Kongsberg Maritime. The project aims to introduce globally proven clean-energy maritime solutions into Indian port operations.

The initiative is expected to support the decarbonisation of port activities, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute to the development of environmentally sustainable and future-ready maritime infrastructure. The project represents an important milestone in India’s ongoing efforts to promote green technologies across the ports and shipping sector.
