Tailwind Shipping Lines has announced the expansion of its Tiger Express Service (TEX), enhancing its intra-Asia sea-freight offering.
Effective from 17 June 2025, the TEX route will be extended to include a new call in Vietnam and two in Malaysia, connecting four key Asian countries.
The updated TEX service will depart from Chattogram, Bangladesh, every two weeks, making its first stop at Port Kelang in Malaysia. It will then proceed to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, before returning to Chattogram via Port Kelang and Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Two container vessels, the 1,700 TEU Nordtiger and the 1,900 TEU ASL Peony, will operate on this route.
“With this intra-Asia service, we are offering a reliable transport solution, such as for raw materials and semi-finished goods for the textile industry, but also for other sectors. This will help us to make international supply chains even stronger,” said Nico Peters, VP Commercial Management at Tailwind Shipping Lines.
The expansion is expected to provide customers with greater planning security and improved connections between Southeast Asia and Europe.
Port Kelang, Malaysia’s largest seaport, will play a pivotal role in this new arrangement. It will serve as the transshipment hub for containers bound for Europe on Tailwind’s Panda Express Service (PAX), which will now list Port Kelang as its last Asian port of call.
The revised PAX route will run from Qingdao, Ningbo, and Dachan Bay in China, through Port Kelang, and on to Barcelona and Koper in Europe, before returning. Meanwhile, the TEX service will operate between Chattogram, Port Kelang, Ho Chi Minh City, Port Kelang, Colombo, and back to Chattogram.
The inclusion of Port Kelang replaces the previous transshipment point at Colombo, with all other ports on the PAX route remaining unchanged.
