Day 3 of India Maritime Week 2025 began with a powerful spotlight on Tamil Nadu during the Tamil Nadu State Session, which highlighted the state’s growing leadership in shipbuilding, clean energy, and industrial manufacturing—key pillars of India’s evolving blue economy.

The session witnessed participation from senior policymakers, port authorities, and maritime industry leaders who discussed the state’s transformative initiatives to build a future-ready, sustainable maritime ecosystem.

A major highlight of the session was the address by Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Industries, Shri Dr. TRB Rajaa, who conveyed his deep appreciation to VOC Port Chairman, Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, for his inspiring vision and commitment to the port’s development.
Dr. Rajaa remarked that he was “profoundly moved by the Chairman’s passionate pitch and palpable excitement for advancing Tuticorin’s VOC Port,” noting that such leadership exemplifies the forward momentum in Tamil Nadu’s maritime sector.

The Minister emphasized Tamil Nadu’s central role in India’s industrial and maritime growth, adding:

“We always like to see Tamil Nadu first – because when Tamil Nadu shines, India shines brighter.”

The session’s theme, “Next-Generation Maritime Industries of Tamil Nadu,” underscored the state’s strategic initiatives to attract global investments in shipbuilding, port modernization, green energy, and marine manufacturing. Presentations by the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board, TIDCO, and Guidance Tamil Nadu showcased the state’s robust policy ecosystem supporting industrial growth and sustainability.

Industry stakeholders highlighted how Tamil Nadu’s coastal infrastructure, skilled workforce, and progressive policies are positioning it as a national hub for maritime innovation—from developing offshore wind energy and green hydrogen projects to creating integrated ship repair and logistics clusters.

As the Tamil Nadu State Session concluded, it reinforced the state’s strong vision for a sustainable, innovation-driven maritime future, contributing significantly to India’s ambition of becoming a global maritime leader.
