The Tiruchi Railway Division has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing eight million tonnes of freight loading between April 1 and October 25 of the current financial year. The division’s total earnings stood at ₹486.57 crore during this period, marking a 13.5% increase compared to ₹428.65 crore earned during the corresponding period last year.

According to a press release from the division, coal continued to be the major contributor with 6.02 million tonnes loaded — a 4% rise over the set target. Foodgrain loading saw remarkable growth, reaching 1.17 million tonnes, which represents a 30% increase over the target and a 61% surge compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, the division handled three lakh tonnes of cement and 1.8 lakh tonnes of other goods, further strengthening its freight performance.

The consistent rise in both freight volume and revenue underscores the Tiruchi Railway Division’s operational efficiency and growing role in supporting regional and national logistics movement.
