    Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL) has signed a contract for design and supply of 72 standard gauge cars for the Surat Metro Rail Phase I project. The order value for this project is estimated at Rs 857 crores.

    A TRSL statement said the execution of the contract is slated to commence in a year and a half after the signing the contract. The supply is expected to complete in 2.5 years after the contract signing. The Surat Metro Rail Project has two corridors covering 40.45 kilometres across 38 stations at an estimated cost of Rs 12,020 crores.

    These metro cars will be manufactured at TRSL’s facility in Uttarpara, located in the Hooghly, West Bengal. Besides these, the full aluminium body Metro Coaches for Pune are also being manufactured here. In addition to this, the company has also received the Letter of Acceptance for 30 standard gauge cars for the Phase II of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project.
