Donald Trump on Tuesday (March 31) made a series of provocative statements regarding the ongoing conflict with Iran, claiming that “the hard part” of the war had already been completed and urging other nations to secure their own energy supplies amid disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a social media post, Trump advised countries facing jet fuel shortages due to the closure of the Strait to either purchase oil from the United States or take direct action. He specifically criticized the United Kingdom for not participating in military efforts against Iran, suggesting it should “build up some delayed courage” and secure access to the Strait independently.
“The U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore,” Trump said, adding that Iran had been “essentially decimated” and encouraging nations to “go get your own oil.”
The remarks come a day after Trump warned Tehran of potential strikes on critical infrastructure—including power plants, desalination facilities, and oil fields—if it failed to reach a swift agreement with Washington. In response, Iranian officials said proposals conveyed through intermediaries were “excessive, unrealistic and irrational.”
Meanwhile, hostilities continue to escalate. U.S. and Israel forces have maintained strikes on Iranian targets, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for missile attacks on Israeli territory and U.S. bases in the region.
In a separate post on Monday (March 30), Trump also criticized France, accusing it of obstructing military logistics by denying overflight access to aircraft carrying supplies to Israel. He described France as “very unhelpful” and warned that the U.S. would “remember” its stance.
The latest statements signal deepening geopolitical tensions and raise concerns over global energy security, particularly as disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to impact fuel supply chains worldwide.
