V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port) has initiated discussions with the Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) to explore funding support for its proposed Outer Harbour Development Project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at expanding the port’s capacity and strengthening its position on India’s east coast.

The discussions took place during a meeting between VOC Port Chairperson Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit and Deputy Chairperson Shri Rajesh Soundararajan with IRFC Chairman and Managing Director Shri Manoj Kumar Dubey.

According to VOC Port, the talks focused on identifying financing options for the Outer Harbour project, which is expected to facilitate the handling of larger vessels, increase cargo-handling capacity, and enhance the port’s competitiveness as a major maritime gateway.

The engagement forms part of VOC Port’s broader strategy to forge institutional partnerships and secure long-term capital for infrastructure development. The proposed project is expected to play a significant role in supporting future trade growth and advancing the port’s vision of developing world-class maritime facilities.
