The VOC port has achieved a significant milestone by handling 5,87,288 tonnes of limestone up to July in the ongoing financial year 2025–26, registering an impressive growth of 65.77% over the 3,54,274 tonnes handled during the corresponding period in 2024–25.

Limestone, a crucial raw material for the construction and manufacturing industries, has seen rising demand across the region. The surge in cargo volumes reflects not only the growing industrial activity but also the Port’s improved operational efficiency, streamlined logistics, and upgraded cargo-handling infrastructure.

Port authorities attribute this growth to enhanced coordination with stakeholders, faster vessel turnaround times, and strengthened last-mile connectivity for bulk cargo movement. Industry experts note that such performance further cements the Port’s role as a vital link in the raw material supply chain, supporting infrastructure growth and industrial expansion in the country.

With sustained demand expected from cement plants, steel producers, and other industrial consumers, the Port is optimistic about maintaining this growth momentum in the coming months.
