Brazilian cargo carrier Modern Logistics has chosen ATC Aviation Services to be its General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA) in Latin America.

This collaboration supports Modern’s expansion by extending the company’s reach into new markets, including Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador and Uruguay.

Earlier this year, São Paulo-based Modern announced a two-stage strategy for international expansion. The first phase began in August.

The company’s initial phase aims to see Modern expand to Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. The second phase targets Mexico and the US.

Modern also plans to establish a facility in Miami and eventually aims to expand internationally.

This geographical expansion is being supported by Modern Logistics’ recent acquisition of two 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCFs).

Modern acquired its first 737-800BCF in October last year, which marked the first 737-800 ever within Brazil’s logistics industry. Then the company took delivery of its second 737-800BCF in March.

Both aircraft are leased through Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management (BBAM)

As well as the two 737-800BCFs, Modern has two 737 Classics in its fleet, but eventually aims to phase these out. As the replacement of the existing fleet will take place gradually, the company said it will operate both classic and new generation 737s over the near term.

Modern Logistics now aims to acquire additional aircraft for underserved regional airports.
