DP World London Gateway has welcomed the first vessel under its new agreement with the Gemini Cooperation.
The Maersk Stadelhorn, the first ship to call at London Gateway under the Gemini Cooperation, will travel on the ME2/IEX India-Europe service, departing the UK for ports including Hamburg, Tanger Med, Colombo, Kamarajar, Algeciras, and Rotterdam.
The Gemini Cooperation, formed to enhance efficiency across East-West shipping routes, recently reported a 90 per cent service reliability in its first month of operation.
When fully operational, the partnership will run 57 services worldwide with a TEU capacity of 3.7 million, equating to almost 12 per cent of global container shipping capacity.
Ernst Schulze, DP World’s Ports and Terminals Lead for Northern Europe, commented: “The arrival of the Maersk Stadelhorn is a testament to the Gemini Cooperation’s confidence in DP World’s UK container terminals and global supply chain solutions network.
“The Asia-Europe service will enhance vital international trade routes at London Gateway, advancing our ambition to make the logistics hub the UK’s largest container port within the next five years.”

The news follows similar developments at DP World Southampton, which welcomed its first Gemini service vessel, the MV Leonidio, last month.
