UltraTech Cement Limited, the country’s largest cement and ready-mix concrete maker, has operationalised a 7.5 MW round-the-clock (RTC) hybrid renewable energy project at its Sewagram Cement Works in Gujarat.

Developed in collaboration with clean energy firm Gentari, the project integrates bifacial solar modules with trackers, wind energy, and on-site battery storage to deliver uninterrupted green power for cement manufacturing — completely independent of grid supply.

Installed as a behind-the-meter system, the project is India’s first of its kind in the industrial sector and sets a new benchmark for system integration, emissions reduction, and energy cost optimisation.

UltraTech, which crossed the milestone of 1 GW of captive renewable energy capacity in FY25, is accelerating its decarbonisation roadmap. The company targets 65% green energy share by 2027, 85% by 2030, and 100% renewable power under its RE100 commitment by 2050.
