Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson of VO Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), held a meeting with Shri Nishi Kant Singh, IFS, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, at Seoul.

During the interaction, the Chairperson briefed the Deputy Chief of Mission on various capacity enhancement initiatives proposed at the port, including the development of the outer harbour, establishment of an offshore windmill terminal, and other infrastructure upgrades. He also highlighted the port’s green initiatives such as the proposed Green Hydrogen Hub, bunkering facilities for alternative fuels, and production of green methanol from solid waste.

The Deputy Chief of Mission welcomed the initiatives and suggested that VOC Port explore signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading South Korean ports, including the new Busan Port, to facilitate exchange of best practices and strengthen mutual cooperation.

The discussions are expected to pave the way for enhanced collaboration between Indian and South Korean ports in areas of capacity building, green energy transition, and sustainable maritime development.
