Pearl Shipping Agencies successfully executed a major stevedoring and vessel agency operation for MV Gravity, a break-bulk vessel that arrived from Russia at Tuticorin Port on September 4, 2025.
The project involved the safe discharge and handling of 550 packages (approx. 3,750 MT), comprising 523 assorted packages and 27 x 40’ containers, along with 25 x 40’ and 3 x 20’ IMO containers.
The operation was carried out in two phases. Discharge commenced at the container terminal for the IMO containers, after which the vessel was shifted to the general cargo berth to handle the remaining heavy-lift and project cargo.
A key highlight of the consignment was the handling of several heavy-lift units requiring specialized care, including three turbines (each weighing 98 MT), two tank cooling systems (each weighing 83 MT & 104 MT), and eight turbines (each weighing 43–48 MT).
Pearl Shipping’s scope covered end-to-end stevedoring operations, including unlashing, cutting and grinding, and the safe transfer of both containerized and heavy-lift cargo directly onto receivers’ trucks under hook.
“This project demanded meticulous planning and seamless execution, given the mix of containerized and over-dimensional cargo, along with tight vessel schedules,” the company said in a statement.
The successful handling of the shipment underscores Pearl Shipping’s expertise in managing complex project and ODC cargo operations. The company extended its appreciation to its principals for their trust, the Port Captain for his support, and its operations team for ensuring the safe and efficient execution of its operations.
