Global port operator DP World has signed a 10-year agreement with Hapag-Lloyd for operations at the Port of Santos, reinforcing a long-term partnership between the two companies.

Under the deal, DP World will continue with its planned capacity expansion at the Santos terminal, ensuring efficient and sustainable services for Hapag-Lloyd as well as other carriers. For Hapag-Lloyd, the agreement provides a strong foundation to expand its footprint in the Brazilian market.

DP World last August marked the groundbreaking of berth expansion works on the port’s left bank. Scheduled for completion in August 2026, the project will add 190 metres to the quay, extending its total length to 1,290 metres. This will enable the terminal to handle larger container ships.

With the installation of new container-handling equipment, the terminal’s annual capacity is projected to increase to 1.7 million TEU by 2026, cementing its status as one of Brazil’s most modern private multipurpose terminals.
