DHL Global Forwarding has appointed Henk Venema as Executive Vice President Global Airfreight, placing an experienced industry leader at the centre of its plan to build a stronger and more reliable airfreight organisation. The company said his leadership will be key to improving reliability, transparency and service performance for customers worldwide, including those in India’s fast-growing air cargo market.

According to DHL Global Forwarding, Venema brings more than 20 years of operational experience from roles across Exel, UTI, Geodis and nearly a decade with DHL. The company noted that he understands the airfreight product from every angle, including carriers, capacity, service quality, pricing and the day-to-day requirements of running a resilient network.

DHL added that Venema has already demonstrated strong leadership in the Benelux business, where he worked closely with customers and focused on service excellence. Senior leadership within DHL highlighted firsthand experience working with Venema through account sponsorship, saying he is clear on what good performance looks like and remains close to customer needs.

The company said airfreight continues to be a demanding environment and its ambition is to strengthen its position by delivering consistently, acting quickly and creating real value. DHL believes Venema’s appointment will support its next steps in building a resilient, customer-focused and competitive global airfreight organisation.
