V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, is strengthening India’s sustainable maritime infrastructure with the development of a Green Methanol Bunkering Facility, now under construction and scheduled for completion by March 2026.

The new facility is aimed at supporting cleaner, low-carbon shipping operations by enabling the use of green methanol as an alternative marine fuel. This initiative aligns with global decarbonisation goals in the maritime sector and India’s broader commitment to promoting green energy and sustainable transport solutions.

Once operational, the bunkering facility will position VOC Port as a key hub for next-generation marine fuels on India’s east coast, enhancing its attractiveness to environmentally conscious shipping lines and future-ready vessels.

The project underscores VOC Port’s proactive role in driving innovation, reducing carbon emissions, and reinforcing its leadership in green energy initiatives within the Indian maritime ecosystem.
