Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the second major port in India to successfully commission the Shore-to-Ship Power Supply (SSPS) system, delivering full-load power to MV APJ INDRANI at CB-1 Berth.

The vessel, owned by Apeejay Shipping—a 77-year-old legacy marine company—was seamlessly integrated with the advanced shore power infrastructure, marking a key step forward in sustainable and energy-efficient maritime operations. The commissioning of the SSPS system enables vessels equipped with shore power reception to switch off auxiliary engines while berthed, significantly reducing emissions and supporting low-carbon shipping initiatives.

Commenting on the achievement, Shri P. L. Haranadh, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, said, “The live monitoring panel and on-site operations demonstrate the efficiency, reliability, and safety of this advanced setup. This milestone reinforces PPA’s strong commitment to cleaner, greener, and more energy-efficient port operations.”

The initiative strengthens green connectivity between future-ready ports and environmentally compliant vessels, aligning with India’s broader maritime decarbonisation goals.

PPA also expressed sincere appreciation to its Electrical and Mechanical Engineering teams for their dedication and technical excellence in successfully executing this landmark project, further reaffirming the port’s commitment to pollution-free and sustainable shipping practices.
