A Kanpur-based defence manufacturer has secured a ₹26-crore export contract from Vietnam for the supply of advanced parachute systems used in fighter aircraft, marking a significant boost for India’s defence exports.
The order involves specialised parachutes designed for high-performance military jets, underscoring growing international confidence in India’s defence manufacturing capabilities. The contract is expected to be executed over the coming months, with production and quality testing to be carried out at the company’s Kanpur facility.
Industry observers see the deal as part of a broader trend of rising defence cooperation between India and Southeast Asian nations, driven by India’s push to expand exports of indigenous military equipment under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
The export win also highlights Kanpur’s emergence as a key hub for specialised defence textiles and aerospace components, contributing to employment generation and strengthening India’s position in the global defence supply chain.
