Thessaloniki Port has reached a record milestone in 2025 after posting strong container volume growth, underscoring its rising importance as a strategic trade gateway for Southeast Europe and the Balkans.
The increase in throughput reflects growing demand for regional import-export activity, stronger feeder connections, and expanding use of the Greek port as an alternative logistics hub for cargo moving into inland European markets.
Port authorities said continued infrastructure upgrades, improved terminal efficiency, and enhanced hinterland rail and road links have supported higher container handling volumes during the year.
Industry analysts view the performance as a sign of Thessaloniki Port’s strengthening competitiveness, as shipping lines seek diversified routing options and resilient supply chain gateways across the Mediterranean region.
