India and New Zealand are set to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on Monday, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The agreement is expected to focus on improving market access, reducing tariffs, and easing trade barriers across key sectors including agriculture, dairy, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and services. It also aims to enhance investment flows and support supply chain integration between India and New Zealand.

Officials from both sides have described the FTA as a balanced framework that takes into account sensitivities in sectors such as dairy, while also opening new opportunities for Indian exporters in areas like engineering goods, chemicals, and IT services.

The deal comes amid India’s broader push to expand its network of trade partnerships with developed economies, while New Zealand seeks to diversify its trade base in Asia. Once signed, the agreement is expected to undergo further legal and parliamentary processes before full implementation.
