AD Ports Group has announced the formation of the UAE’s first-ever Shipbuilders Consortium, a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s maritime industrial ecosystem and enhancing its global competitiveness in shipbuilding, vessel repair, fabrication, and marine engineering.
Led by Noatum Maritime, part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster, the Consortium brings together key national industry players including SAFEEN Drydocks, Dubai Shipbuilding & Engineering, Al Seer Marine, Premier Marine Engineering Services, JOME Engineering, Blue Gulf Ship Builders, and several other maritime and engineering firms.
The initiative is designed to improve collaboration across the UAE’s maritime sector by enhancing visibility into project pipelines, streamlining procurement processes, and enabling coordinated project execution. The Consortium will also create greater opportunities for locally based small and medium-sized shipyards to participate in larger and more complex regional and international projects.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, said the formation of the Consortium reflects the Group’s commitment to advancing the UAE’s industrial and economic diversification ambitions while positioning the country as a stronger player in global maritime trade and manufacturing.
Through SAFEEN Drydocks, Noatum Maritime already provides shipbuilding and repair capabilities within the UAE and has further expanded its international footprint through the acquisition of the Balenciaga Shipyard in Spain, strengthening its capabilities in complex vessel construction and fabrication projects.
The Consortium is expected to establish a unified governance and commercial framework that supports long-term industrial growth, operational efficiency, and enhanced competitiveness across the UAE’s maritime value chain.
